This article shows you how to access and start using your emails online using webmail.
Things you need before you start:
- - A hosted website
- - An email account (see how to create an email account, if you have not already done so)
- - Your email account name and password details
An i-webdesigner hosting package allows you to set up your own email and to view it online wherever you may be using webmail.
Step 1 - Your webmail account can always be found at www.yourwebsite.com/webmail (where yourwebsite is the actual name of your domain).
Occasionally this may not work for you if your Internet Service Provider blocks the access to non-standard ports loaded through an SSL connection. In this case, please use: http://webmail.servername.com, where 'servername.com' should be the name of your server.
Step 2 - You will then have a choice of using three types of email, Horde, Roundcube or Squirrel Mail. Each one of these is slightly different, so we wont go into them all at the moment. If you are new to them, we suggest you have a look at each one and have a look round until you are in a position to choose one or the other.
Step 3 - You can send email from any of the three, using the New message button in Horde, the Compose button in Squirrelmail or the Create a New Message button in RoundCube and you will be able to start writing your message. It is good practice to save your message frequently if it is long or if you want to write it for a longer period of time. There is always the risk that your connection may be broken and you lose the part of the message you have already written
